home of Harry Walker. Hazel’s age
appears to be 17 or 19 (blurry), and Walter’s is 24 (clear).
Walter’s father is listed as having been born in Germany, and is his
mother tongue. His mother is listed
as having been born in Michigan. Hazel’s father is listed as having been born
in Michigan, and her mother is listed as having been born in Canada.
Both Hazel and Walter are listed as having been born in Michigan.
The 1920 Census lists Walter’s job as being a truck driver, but it is
very blurry, and appears to be worded “Driver Truck.” After looking at other Census records, I think that it could
say “Dirt Truck.”
1930
Census lists Walter as being 33, and Hazel as being 27.
It also lists his age at his first marriage, which was 17, and Hazel’s
was 15. It also asks if the family
members can read and write, and everyone except 8yr. Old Donald is listed as
answering “yes.” Donald’s is
left blank. It also shows the
amount of their rent, which was $25.00 per month.
It also shows that they owned a “radio set.”
It also states that he is a veteran of the US military, and lists the war
he was involved in as “WW.” Which
at the time, must’ve been what we call “WWI.”
Since it was the only World War at the time, it was simply “WW.”
On
Tom Schaible’s record of birth, Hazel is listed as being 37 years old.
